Introduction:
The waste permit and the certificate of registration database is a register for waste facility permits and certificates of registration issued by local authorities under the under the Waste Management (facility permit and registration) Regulations, S.I. No. 821 of 2007 (as amended). The Regulations came into effect on the 1st June 2008.
The website is a central register of all waste facility permits and certificates of registration granted, reviewed, revoked and expired. Use of the website by local authorities will facilitate compliance with the requirements to maintain a Section 19 register and to notify the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) of authorisation information.
The site can be searched by anyone for authorisations by criteria including authorisation number, company name, address and the issuing local authority.
The waste permit and certificate of registration database formerly acted as a register of waste collection permits issued under the waste management (Collection Permit) regulations, S.I. No. 820 of 2007 (as amended). However, since the waste collection permit system was amalgamated into the National Waste Collection Permit Office (NWCPO) in 2012, waste collection permits are held by the NWCPO and can be accessed via their website: www.nwcpo.ie
A formal excel register of waste collection permits issued under the 2001 Regulations is still available for information reference if required and can be retrieved from epa.ie.
