Large Public Service Vehicles include vehicles with capacity to carry more than eight passengers for reward – normally buses and coaches. The Department has responsibility for policy oversight for the sector, and in particular:

Regulation (EU) 181/2011(link is external) – concerning the rights of passengers in bus and coach transport – became applicable on 1 March 2013. It provides for a minimum set of rights for passengers travelling by bus and coach services within the European Union. Measures to provide for the implementation of the Regulations in Ireland are set out in S.I. 152 of 2013(link is external).

The NTA is the national enforcement body for bus and coach passenger rights (link is external)in Ireland.
